I like Guinness. At least in Ireland, served at the Gravity Bar in the Guinness Storehouse. What fun. Yes, I did drink that much of my beer. No, I was not feeling any pain when I left there. DL drank just as much as I did. We both are such big drinkers anyway. So what do we do after this. Why we hit the Celtic Whiskey Shop of course. We chat with "Washington" a charming young man who works there & tell him we don't really drink. So he gives us a taste of Coole Swan, a cream whiskey like Bailey's, but better because it's not as thick. Then the manager, Gerry comes over & hits us with the hard stuff. The first one went down pretty smooth - DL shot that right down, & I followed suit. The second one we didn't like so much. The third, an award winning one was just plain awful - smoky - tasted like...BBQ. The tastes were really just thimblefuls, but whoa. The story on "Washington" is he was born in Spokane. When he said that I knew he wasn't making it up. His father, an Irish national, worked for an American company in Ireland & was transferred to Spokane for 2 years. They went back to Ireland when he was 9 months old. My camera battery just died, so I'll post pics later. I have to say, the food here is really wonderful. All the produce is so fresh & flavorful. I may gain some kilos even with all the walking we're doing.

So great to hear that you two are having a terrific time! I've enjoyed catching up on the blog as well as the photo's you posted. It sounds like everyday is an adventure, with lots to see and do. The scenery sounds beautiful, hopefully it is sunny and warm again? Thankfully the people are nice and helpful, it makes for a more pleasant trip. It is sunny and about 85 today, yeah, so nice. Tell DL that Brian and Brent are jet skiing at Fern Ridge today. They're probably stirrin up all the muck but havin fun!
ReplyDeleteWow! You are having such a great time and I am taking notes!!! I tried Guinness in Japan (of all places) at an ex-pat bar--one sip and I handed it to Bob and took his---whatever that was. I am looking forward to your Scotland adventures. Love you both!!!
ReplyDeleteCute pics! DL hair looks great!
